EASYPASS'97 Version 2.01

What is EasyPass?
EasyPass'97 reveals, unsets and sets Database File Password in a MDB
file. It is a must have product for Access database administrators.

For a given Access'95/97 MDB file for which Database File Password has
been set, EasyPass unlocks the database without the original password
and also facilitates you to find out the database file password. It also
allows you to set a password without the use of MS-Access.

Access '95/97 databases have the feature of Database File Password. If
the MDB file is locked with this password, then if you happen to lose
the password (or) the person knowing the password is not available then
there was no way of opening the database. EasyPass'97 is a life-saver in
such scenarios.

Systems Requirement

Recommended hardware is a Pentium 100Mhz or higher with at least 8MB of
RAM. EasyPass'97 runs under Windows'95 or Windows NT 4.0 (SP2 or
higher). It has also been tested in Windows'98.

It works with Microsoft Access'95 and Access'97 databases only.

Note: EasyPass'97 uses Microsoft Visual Basic 5.0 Runtime libraries
(Service Pack 3). These libraries are shipped along with the full
package of EasyPass'97. The Runtime libraries are also available from
Simtel ftp://ftp.simtel.net/pub/simtelnet/ win95/dll/vb5rtsp3.zip.

Installation and UnInstallation

Follow these steps to Install EasyPass '97:

1. Run the Self-Extracting executable Epsetup.Exe to unzip the
installation files into a temporary folder (Such as C:\Temp).
2. Run Setup.Exe from the temporary folder (C:\Temp) and follow the
instructions to install.
3. The Installation creates a shortcut for EasyPass '97 in the
Start menu->Programs section.
4. Delete the files in the temporary folder (C:\Temp).

Follow these steps to uninstall EasyPass '97:

1. Delete all manually created shortcuts (if any) to EasyPass '97
2. Use the Add/Remove Programs Application in the Control Panel to
select EasyPass '97 and uninstall the application.
3. If the uninstall program does not completely remove the EasyPass '
97 directory, you may manually delete it.

How to use it?
Using EasyPass '97 involves selection of the database file by clicking
on the BROWSE button & then selecting the appropriate action that you
want (Unlock/Lock/Reveal) by clicking on the appropriate buttons.

Reveal Option: After selecting the MDB file, clicking on this option
displays a progress dialog box. After the processing, the dialog box
displays the password that is present in the MDB file. This option
doesnot unlock the database.

UnLock Option: After selecting the MDB file, clicking on this option
displays a progress dialog box. After the processing, the program
unlocks the database file by removing the password. The success of this
operation is displayed in the the dialog box at the bottom left corner.
THIS OPTION UNSETS THE PASSWORD.

Lock Option: After selecting the MDB file, clicking on this option
displays a dialog box containing two text boxes, which accepts a
password and a confirmation for the same. Once you press OK, it sets the
password and locks the databases.

EasyPass accepts passwords that contain charcters like slashes(/) and
spaces, that Access doesnot permit. Setting these characters will make
Access not to open the databases. You have unlock the databases, with
EasyPass before you can open them in Access.

Close
Clicking on the Cross mark (X) present in the top right corner,
ends the program.

Help
Clicking on the Question mark (?) present in the top left corner,
brings the help.

Backup
Clicking on the "Backup" text or the button next to it, toggles
the backup status. A green button with a tick, indicates that the
database file will be backed up (*.mdb as *.bak). A red button indicates
that the backup file won't be created.

SINCE UNLOCK AND LOCK, MANIPULATES THE DATABASE FILE, IT IS STRONGLY
RECOMMENDED THAT THE DATABASE BE BACKED UP BEFORE USING EASYPASS'97.

How to move the EasyPass main window?
EasyPass main window, doesnot contain the titlebar that is normally
present in almost all application windows. Hence to move the EasyPass
window you can click anywhere on the main window and move (drag) it!.

How much does it Cost?

The Evaluation Version of EasyPass '97 is valid for a period of 30 days.
This edition will unset the password for MDB files less than 600k in
size only. The Registered Version of EasyPass '97 which costs US $20
(Single user) will work for Access Databases (MDB files) of any size.

How to Register?

Obtain your User Code & Registration Key from us, by
purchasing the product through our website at http://www.easytools.com.
Click on the REGISTER text in the main screen. Type the user code &
Registration Key. Press the Register button. Now your copy of
Easypass'97 is registered.

Note : The user code and registration key are case sensitive and should
be entered as provided by us. Registration enables you to work with MDB
files of any size and does not have the restriction of file size to be
less than 600Kb, that is present in the evaluation version.

EasyPass'97 should be used only by
administrator(s)/creator(s) of the concerned database. Users of this
tool should understand that any database creator or administrator will
not welcome the idea of a third person Unlocking databases by removing
the password (or) finding out the password that was set to a database

License Agreement

By Installing or using EasyPass'97, you agree to be
bound by the following License Agreement.

Evaluation Version Vishwak Associates grants you license to use
EasyPass'97 for evaluation purposes without charge for 30 days only. If
not registered after the trial period, it should be uninstalled. If you
use this software after the 31st day evaluation period a registration
fee of $20 is required. Unregistered use of EasyPass'97 after the
evaluation period is in violation of international copyright laws.

Registered Version One registered copy of EasyPass'97 may either be used
by a single person on one or more computers, or installed on a single
workstation used by any number of people, but not both.

You may access the registered version of EasyPass'97 through a network,
provided that you have obtained individual licenses covering all
workstations that will access through the network. For instance, if 5
different workstations access EasyPass'97 on the network, each
workstation must have its own license, regardless of whether they use
EasyPass'97 at different times or concurrently.

Registered Versions of EasyPass'97 will display "Registered Version" in
the Register box.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: In unlocking the password on Access, are we talking about the
Database password, or the User/Group level security (using the workgroup
.MDW)?

A: We are definitely talking only about the Database file password
removal in Access. For advanced security restrictions to be recovered,
we offer customised Access security recovery servicesRecovery.

Q: I have a few critical code modules locked by a specific user account
in a .MDB file. I no longer have the .MDW (reformatted my drive). I have
tried every PID it has been to no avail. Will your data recovery service
help me in this? Also, could you tell me how you operate?

Q: I have several MS Access 2.0 databases for which a past employee
setup the security to prevent the database window from being opened.
Microsoft has told me that I am just out of luck and will have to
rebuild the databases. Do you offer any kind of service that will help
me in getting back my data?

A:We provide Access Recovery services like unsetting User & Group level
security for all versions of Access(2.0,95,97). EasyPass '97 is a result
of our experience in this area.

Q: I've testing your EasyPass '97 software and it worked well opening
some less 500 K files. So, I have two copies of 500MB .MDB file each to
do the same (from the same source). I believe it will work well too. I
want to order a (single-user) copy of your EasyPass '97, but I'll never
send my credit card number using the Internet. Could I do it by FAX ? Or
is there any other way (excluding the Internet) to do it ?

A: Apart, from the Web ordering, we also sell by direct orders. At
present, we cannot accept FAX orders. For ordering directly from us, you
have send your payments to "Vishwak Associates" in the form of a
Cheque/Banker's Cheque payable in US Dollars and post it to us. On
receipt of the payment, we will immediately despatch the Registration
Keys to you by email/post. The software can be downloaded from our
website. We normally, don't ship the software in media (Floppies /
CD-ROM) due to the high transit charges involved.

Q:When I run EasyPass '97 in my .MDB file I get a "3033" error and it
says "You don't have the necessary permissions to use the object. Have
your system administrator or the person who created this object
establish the appropriate permissions for you". Why is it?.

A: EasyPass '97 requires exclusive access to the database file. The
error you seem to be having is probably due to a sharing violation. You
have to close any other programs (like Access itself, or your VB
programs) which are accessing the .MDB file, before trying to Unset
password with EasyPass '97. Remember that EasyPass '97 needs exclusive
rights to open the .MDB file.

Q: I had registered EasyPass '97 a couple of weeks ago. But my hard disk
failed on me and I lost all my archived e-mails and the registration key
with it. What should I do now to get the key again?

A: Send us an email from the address in which you had registered the
software. Also mention your first name and last name as it was
registered. On receiving this, we will send you the registration keys
through email immediately.

Q:I registered EasyPass '97 through your online facility and received
my"User Code" and "Registration Key" through email. When I entered the
details it said "Incorrect Registration key". Why is it?

A: The Usercode and Registration Key are case sensitive and should be
entered as it is. It is a good idea to copy (Ctrl-C) the key from the
email you received it and paste (Ctrl-V) it on the appropriate boxes in
the registration dialog. In the evaluation version, after you enter the
registration details, it becomes the registered version providing full
access instantly.

Send us an email to [e-mail] in case of any problems with
registrations. Tip: Taking a printout of the registration email that you
received and keeping it safe for your later reference may prove highly
useful.
